Pakistan military mourns loss of pilots in Quetta training jet accident

The Pakistan military has expressed heartfelt sorrow following the fatal crash of a training jet near Quetta, Balochistan, that claimed the lives of two pilots. The aircraft, part of the army aviation fleet, was on a scheduled training flight when a sudden mechanical issue forced it down.

The official statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the crash took place in the afternoon near Nawankilli, resulting in the deaths of Major Husnain Shahzad Humayun and Captain Abdul Samad. Both officers were highly respected within the military aviation community.

President Asif Ali Zardari issued a condolence message, emphasizing the sacrifice of the two officers and extending sympathies to their families. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also conveyed his grief, describing the pilots as heroes who gave their lives in service to the nation.

The tragedy unfolds amid ongoing security tensions in Balochistan, a province frequently affected by insurgent activities. The military has previously reported similar incidents, including a helicopter crash in June that killed 21 soldiers and a separate plane accident in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa earlier this month. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the Quetta crash.
