The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that the investigation into the deadly Pahalgam terrorist assault, which occurred on April 22, 2025, remains active. According to the briefing, the assault was carried out by militants who asked victims about their religion and forced non‑Muslims to recite Islamic declarations before opening fire. The operation was claimed by the Resistance Front, an outfit tied to Pakistan’s Lashkar‑e‑Taiba.

Ranvir Jaiswal said Indian security agencies have collected forensic data, witness testimonies, and digital footprints linking the attackers to Pakistani safe houses. He warned that Pakistan’s continued patronage of such groups violates international norms and places additional pressure on diplomatic engagements between the two nuclear powers.
