International Women’s Day brought a powerful message from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) during the ongoing Iran conflict: women are roaring louder than ever in Operation Roaring Lion. With 20% of mobilized reserves being female, the IDF released data highlighting their transformative impact on military operations.

Women have served in the IDF from day one, evolving from support roles to combat warriors. Today, 90%+ positions are accessible to them, and combat units are 20% female. In the heat of battle, these soldiers have excelled with unwavering determination, proving their mettle in every conflict zone.

The operation’s reserve mobilization underscores this shift—20% women among all active reservists. Guiding every policy is a focus on female soldiers’ holistic welfare, ensuring peak capabilities through tailored health and training protocols.

A decade of change is evident: combat female ratio jumped from 7.2% in 2015 to 21.2% now—a threefold increase. Women hold 35% of permanent posts, 24% lieutenant colonel ranks, and 15% colonel positions.

Naval highlights include 25 women commanders and 130 on missile vessels, dominating 40% of key Navy roles like intel and command. Air defense is half female, Air Force reserves feature 5,000 women, and electronic warfare units in the Spear Brigade top 40% female fighters.

This milestone on Women’s Day signals a new era for the IDF, where women’s leadership fortifies national defense against mounting threats.
