OLA e-rickshaw: The country's leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer OLA Electric had recently announced that it is going to launch its IPO. Before this, the company is also planning to enter new segments by expanding its vehicle portfolio. If media reports are to be believed, OLA is now preparing to launch an electric three-wheeler i.e. auto-rickshaw. The company has also finalized the name of its three-wheeler electric vehicle.
In the ET report quoting people associated with this matter, it has been said that this electric auto rickshaw of OLA has been named Raahi, which can be launched in the coming months. After coming into the market, this electric three-wheeler will mainly compete with models like Mahindra Treo, Piaggio Ape and Bajaj RE. The company has been working on this plan for the last few years.
Important step of expansion plan
The launch of e-autorickshaw is an important step in Ola Electric's expansion plans ahead of its upcoming initial public offering (IPO). The company applied for IPO in December 2022 itself and its target is to raise up to Rs 5,500 crore. Ahead of the IPO, Ola Electric is focusing on strengthening its position in the electric two-wheeler market, where it currently holds the leadership position. To improve its offering, the company has recently extended the battery warranty of its scooter to eight years. Additionally, it plans to install more fast-charging points and expand its service network.
There is a plan to open a giga factory
Let us tell you that in February 2024, Ola Electric co-founder Bhavish Aggarwal confirmed that Ola Electric is planning to open a giga factory. Battery cells will be manufactured in this factory, which Ola will use in its electric vehicles. With this, Ola has extended the battery warranty of all its electric scooters by 8 years. Ola plans to setup 10 thousand fast charging stations in the country by the next quarter. Apart from this, the company will also increase its service centers till April.
