NY Police Probe Fatal Shooting of 28-Year-Old Punjabi Pizza Courier

New York police have launched a homicide investigation after Gurdeep Singh, a 28‑year‑old pizza courier from Punjab, was shot dead on August 21 while making a delivery in Brooklyn.

Singh left India thirteen years ago, financing his journey with a personal loan, and his ambition was to send earnings home to support his family.

Preliminary findings suggest the incident could be linked to a robbery attempt. After the gun was discharged, the suspect fled before officers arrived.

Paramedics discovered Singh with a chest injury, rushed him to the nearest medical center, and later confirmed his death. As of now, investigators have not identified or arrested any suspect.

The Indian Consulate in New York issued a statement of deep regret, confirming that consular staff are coordinating with the victim’s family and will extend all possible assistance.
