New Israeli Envoy Highlights India as One of Israel’s Closest Allies

Panit Yanai, Israel’s fresh ambassador to the region, visited the Indian Embassy in Athens on August 21. Welcomed by Ambassador Ravi Shankar, Yanai called India “one of Israel’s best friends” and stressed the enduring bond built on mutual trust.

He posted a short reel on social media, capturing the interaction and reiterating the phrase “from Jerusalem to New Delhi, true friendship that transcends borders.”

Both diplomats exchanged views on existing collaborations and identified new opportunities in defense, renewable energy, technology transfer and sea‑lane security.

The encounter marks another step in the expanding trilateral framework that includes Greece, further cementing the strategic axis of India, Israel and Greece.
