Parliamentary Hearing Required for Nepal’s New Ambassadorial Picks

According to Nepal’s constitution, any ambassadorial nominee must first appear before a parliamentary committee. The committee assesses the candidate’s expertise, experience and any potential conflicts of interest. After the hearing, the cabinet will forward the names to the respective foreign governments for agrément. Only after receiving formal consent will President Ram Chandra Poudel issue the official appointment letters.
