National Disaster Authority Reports Widespread Damage Across Afghanistan

In the past ten weeks, a series of flash floods and other natural calamities have claimed at least 301 lives nationwide, according to Afghanistan’s National Disaster Management Authority.

The agency estimates that nearly 2,000 homes have been completely destroyed, while more than 7,000 houses sustained partial damage. Over 580 kilometres of roadways have been washed away, cutting off many rural communities.

Agricultural land has been hit hard, with more than 30,300 acres of crops submerged or ruined. The combined impact has left roughly 18,800 families without shelter, food or basic services.

Officials indicated that damage assessments are still underway, and comprehensive compensation figures will be disclosed after the final evaluation.
