Nation Allocates $3.6 Billion for Post‑Flood Rehabilitation and Infrastructure Repair
During a high‑level meeting on Monday, Nepal’s finance ministry proposed a rescue package worth NPR 559.18 billion to address the extensive damage caused by the August 26 floods.
The allocation covers reconstruction of more than 723 billion NPR worth of infrastructure, including schools, health centers, bridges and power lines. It also funds livelihood assistance for thousands of families whose homes and farms were destroyed.
The National Planning Commission and the Disaster Risk Reduction Authority jointly prepared a Rapid Disaster Needs Assessment (RDNA) report, which underlines the scale of loss and the urgent need for coordinated rebuilding.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal emphasized that the rehabilitation effort will be a collaborative venture involving federal, provincial and local governments, as well as private sector partners.
