Nagari’s Shiyagangqing Water Project Drives Green Industrial Growth

Beijing – Nestled at the convergence of Tsochen, Geze and Nagchu’s Nima counties, the Shiyagangqing Glacier towers at 6,822 metres above sea level. Its perpetual snow cover enables ancient ice to soak up mineral deposits from the earth’s inner layers.

When thawed, the meltwater travels through rock formations, converting into crystal‑clear, mineral‑dense spring water. Capitalising on this resource, the regional government has rolled out the Shiyagangqing Mineral Water Industry Project beside national road G216.

With a total outlay of 394.9 million yuan, the plant is a flagship for the local economy. It features a completely automated, dust‑free workflow and adopts an intelligent production mode that mirrors the plateau’s vision of green, low‑carbon development.

In 2023 the facility was upgraded to run three simultaneous production lines, each meeting different industry standards. This upgrade lifts projected annual output to over 5,000 tonnes and has led to a surge in market orders. The project also supports 232 workers from 67 families, offering stable employment close to their homes.

The natural water streaming from the icy heights has become a unique identifier for Nagari, exemplifying a model where ecological priorities and industrial progress go hand in hand.
