Monsoon onset pushes Pakistan into series of weather‑related accidents

The Pakistan Meteorological Department announced the arrival of the first monsoon wave for the year, and the province of Punjab quickly felt its impact. Within a single day, heavy showers and violent gusts triggered eight separate incidents, resulting in two deaths and nine injuries. Structural damages included a collapsing wall in Attock, a roof failure in Pira Shahin Bag, and a fallen signboard in Sargodha. In Khushab, a lightning strike caused an electrical injury, while in Sheikhupura, a wooden roof gave way under the deluge. Rescue teams from 1122 were on site within minutes, providing first aid and transporting victims to hospitals. The rapid succession of events mirrors a recent disaster in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where similar weather conditions claimed at least seven lives.
