Modi’s itinerary includes meetings on trade, defence and diaspora engagement

NEW DELHI, July 6 — On a tightly packed five‑day schedule, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to three Indo‑Pacific nations with a clear focus on expanding trade, defence cooperation and diaspora outreach. The itinerary begins with a two‑day visit to Indonesia, continues with a stop in Australia, and concludes in New Zealand.

In Jakarta, Modi is set to meet President Joko Widodo and review the progress of the 2018 strategic partnership that covered defence, maritime security and economic collaboration. A cultural stop at the Prambanan temple complex will underline shared heritage, while a dialogue with the Indian community will address their role in fostering bilateral goodwill.

The Australian segment, hosted by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Melbourne, will target joint ventures in defence technology, renewable energy, and sports science. Modi will also speak to the Indian diaspora, which has become a critical pillar of the Indo‑Australian strategic relationship.

Finally, in Auckland, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon will host discussions on deepening the free‑trade agreement, expanding commercial ties, and leveraging the Indian expatriate community’s contributions to both economies.
