Modi underscores dialogue over conflict during meetings in Kyrgyzstan

In his address to the SCO leaders’ council, Prime Minister Modi warned that regional crises, like the one unfolding in West Asia, have far‑reaching impacts on global energy security, maritime trade routes and supply chains. He argued that wars do not stay contained within borders and that the most vulnerable nations, especially those of the Global South, bear the brunt of such disruptions. Modi called for all disputes to be settled through diplomatic engagement and dialogue, rejecting the use of force as a solution. He reiterated India’s stance that sustainable development and market integration must go hand‑in hand with the respect for each nation’s sovereignty and territorial wholeness, a principle enshrined in the SCO charter.
