After wrapping up a five-country diplomatic journey, Prime Minister Narendra Modi touched down in Delhi on Thursday. Among the many highlights of his tour were the distinctive Indian gifts he offered to UAE’s leadership. The carefully curated presents were handed over during meetings with President Sheikh Mohamed, Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid, and the Queen Mother. The President received a rare Rogan Tree of Life painting from Kutch, Gujarat. This intricate textile art uses raised, metallic pigments to portray a symbolic tree whose roots and branches represent tradition and forward momentum. Modi also offered two standout GI-tagged fruits: the fragrant Kesar mango and the naturally sweet Meghalaya pineapple. For the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister brought a traditional Koftgiri dagger crafted in Udaipur. The weapon showcases meticulous gold-silver wire inlay on iron, echoing Rajasthan’s royal legacy. A packet of protein-rich Mithila makhana from Bihar completed the set. The Queen Mother was presented with an ornate Karimnagar filigree silver casket illustrating a grand elephant procession, a luxurious Maheshwari silk fabric featuring its signature reversible border, and premium Chakhao black rice from Manipur. The rice is known both for its deep purple hue and its health benefits. By choosing these regionally significant items, Modi reinforced India’s commitment to showcasing its diverse cultural and agricultural wealth while strengthening bilateral ties with the UAE.
