Modi also holds talks with Armenia’s Pashinyan in Bishkek, expands cooperation

In addition to his meeting with Iran, Prime Minister Modi met Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Bishkek later that day. The two leaders discussed deepening ties across a wide range of sectors, including defence, trade, culture and education.

Both sides pointed to the successful launch of the Gandhi statue in 2015 as a symbol of friendship and agreed to promote more cultural exchanges, such as joint art festivals and academic programmes. Economic cooperation was a focal point, with discussions on boosting Indian exports of pharmaceuticals and IT services to Armenia, while seeking Armenian expertise in minerals and tourism.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on the volatile situation in West Asia, agreeing that regional peace is essential for sustained economic growth. A joint communiqué was signed, pledging to explore new projects under the framework of the SCO and to hold regular high‑level contacts.
