Prime Minister Modi Links Water Supply to Security After Pulagum Attack

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation after the Pulagum massacre, stating that the tragic loss of 24 lives has forced India to reconsider its water sharing commitments with Pakistan.

He asserted that "water and blood cannot flow together," emphasizing that the Indus Water Treaty will remain on hold until Islamabad abandons its support for terrorist activities across the border.

Modi reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir are an inseparable part of the Indian Union, a legal truth that cannot be dismissed by Pakistan's narrative of illegal occupation.

He also warned that Pakistan's continued crackdown on Kashmiri protesters, which has resulted in over thirty deaths since June, only deepens the crisis. Recent reports of six Kashmiri civilians killed in Targarhhal on July 14 were cited as further evidence of Pakistan's hostile stance.

The prime minister urged Pakistan to focus on internal governance and welfare for its own citizens rather than pointing fingers at India, stressing that security and water cooperation are inseparable.
