Modi’s Jakarta Visit Includes Cultural Stop at Prambanan Temple Complex

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s itinerary in Indonesia features a symbolic stop at the Prambanan temple complex, the country’s largest Hindu monument and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The cultural visit follows a bilateral meeting with President Prabowo Subianto in which security, maritime cooperation and digital trade were discussed.

Modi emphasized that strengthening people‑to‑people connections is as vital as strategic alignment. The two leaders are expected to announce a joint initiative for the restoration and preservation of the historic site, reinforcing shared heritage values.

The ministerial talks also reviewed achievements under the 2018 Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with particular focus on expanding defence ties, enhancing cooperation in critical minerals, and fostering food‑security projects. Both sides expressed optimism about future collaborative ventures in the digital economy.

The temple visit is part of a broader three‑country tour that will later include Australia and New Zealand, signaling India’s renewed engagement with the Indo‑Pacific region.
