Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his official trip to Israel, met with President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem on February 26, focusing on mutual interests in startups, education, cutting-edge innovation, and technology. The bilateral talks highlighted opportunities for expanded cooperation amid strengthening India-Israel relations.
The two leaders participated in a symbolic tree-planting event at the Presidential Garden as part of the ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’ initiative, fostering goodwill and sustainability goals. During this cordial exchange, PM Modi formally invited President Herzog to India, signaling high-level enthusiasm for reciprocal visits.
PM Modi commended the exceptional hospitality: ‘Your kind words of welcome and the honors bestowed upon my delegation since yesterday reflect Israel’s profound bond with India. I am immensely grateful.’ He stressed the value of collaboration in science, education, and Israel’s renowned proficiency in water conservation and agriculture, where India has seen tangible benefits from adopted techniques.
Reflecting on prior encounters, PM Modi lauded Herzog’s insightful perspectives and admiration for India. ‘Our people eagerly await your visit. Please extend your stay beyond Delhi to experience more of our institutions and vibrant communities,’ he urged.
In response, President Herzog promoted student exchanges, inviting bright Indian youth to Israel and encouraging Israelis to study in India. He envisioned this connectivity reshaping global strategies favorably for the Global South. ‘Your leadership inspires us, and your presence here excites us deeply,’ he stated.
Preceding the meeting, Herzog posted an X video capturing the grand welcome arrangements, captioning it: ‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Israel embraces you warmly.
