Modi Highlights Shared Democratic Values on U.S. 250th Independence Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the United States’ 250th Independence Day with a message of solidarity and optimism. In a post on X, he addressed President Donald Trump and the American citizenry, extending congratulations on behalf of the entire Indian population of 1.4 billion.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the India‑U.S. relationship rests on more than a strategic alliance; it rests on mutual faith in democratic governance, legal norms and the extraordinary capabilities of their people. Those shared pillars, he argued, transform bilateral friendship into a sturdy engine for global good.

Modi expressed his wish for America to enjoy further prosperity, tranquility and progress over the next 250 years, and expressed confidence that the partnership will achieve new milestones. The Indian diplomatic mission in New York also sent a greeting, emphasizing the common celebration of “We the People,” freedom and democratic ideals.

In a related display of cooperation, the Indian Navy dispatched INS Sudarshini to the United States as part of the Lokayan‑26 initiative. The warship left Norfolk, Virginia on 26 June, passed through the historic Chesapeake and Delaware Canal, and arrived at Baltimore before heading to New York, underscoring India’s dedication to maritime partnership and trust‑building with other nations.
