Modern Warships of India and Russia Seen Together During Indra-2026

For the first time in years, modern combat vessels from India and Russia will share the same ocean corridors during the Indra-2026 exercise. The Indian Navy’s stealth frigate INS Sahyadri, which docked at the Russian port of Vladivostok on 10 October, will sail alongside Russian warships in a series of joint manoeuvres scheduled from 13 to 18 October.

The drill is divided into a harbour segment, featuring professional interactions and bilateral briefings, followed by an open‑sea segment where the fleets will test communication links, conduct coordinated tactical drills and rehearse combined response to simulated maritime threats. The operation reflects the long‑standing defence partnership between New Delhi and Moscow and supports India’s strategic emphasis on expanding its maritime footprint.
