Ministry of External Affairs Confirms Indian Seafarer Presence in Strategic Hormuz Area

The MEA has publicly confirmed that Indian maritime assets are active in the western segment of the Hormuz Strait, a choke point that handles a large share of the world’s oil shipments. Six Indian vessels, together with 125 Indian crew members, are currently in the area, while an additional 41 Indian sailors are on board foreign‑flagged ships that are transiting the same corridor. Both the Ministry of Shipping and the Indian embassy stationed nearby are maintaining continuous liaison to guarantee rapid assistance if the security situation deteriorates. This presence underscores India's ongoing commitment to safeguard its nationals amid rising regional tensions.
