MEA Calls for Calm and Safe Shipping Following Oman Waters Assault

In a statement released after the Sunday attack on the commercial ship MT Al Ghayya off the Omani coast, India's Ministry of External Affairs condemned the act as a violation of international maritime law. The ministry emphasized that targeting commercial vessels, their crews, or civilian infrastructure is intolerable and jeopardises regional stability. It urged all stakeholders to engage in diplomatic dialogue aimed at immediate de‑escalation and to reopen international sea lanes for safe navigation and trade. The MEA also expressed gratitude to Omani authorities for their active coordination in the ongoing SAR mission and pledged to keep diplomatic channels open to prevent any further incidents in the Arabian Sea.
