During a brief online statement, Mary Milben challenged New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani’s anti‑Modi narrative by advocating a capitalist solution. The singer‑actress, celebrated in India for her devotional renditions, argued that opposition to the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s Madison Square Garden programme is rooted in socialist ideology.

"Since they favour socialist doctrines, they cannot comprehend a venue that operates on capitalist principles," Milben wrote. She suggested that Mamdani and his supporters should simply raise the necessary funds, rent MSG, and organise a separate demonstration that reflects their viewpoints.

Milben also highlighted the event’s broader agenda, which includes discussions on religious liberty in India and the role of the Hindu‑American community in fostering social cohesion. She expressed confidence that the programme will feature meaningful dialogue despite the political noise.

The mayor’s earlier comment that he does not endorse the rally, coupled with a coalition of 61 organisations calling for its cancellation, has intensified the debate. Milben’s commentary positions her as a vocal defender of the forthcoming Hindu conference.
