Manga, Anime and Gaming Collaboration Launched Ahead of India‑Japan 75th

As part of the “India‑Japan Year of Shared Horizons” slated for 2027, the two governments will introduce a partnership titled “Image‑75: Manga, Anime, Gaming”. The initiative seeks to harness the soaring popularity of Japanese pop‑culture among Indian youth and position India as an emerging hub for animation, gaming, comics and digital creative technologies.

The programme will facilitate joint productions, talent exchanges, and co‑development of digital content, creating new market opportunities for creators in both countries.

Alongside, the foreign ministries have outlined a series of cultural, educational and sporting events to be held throughout 2027. A logo and theme competition will invite entries that imagine the future of India‑Japan strategic cooperation.

A Buddhist delegation from Japan will visit India’s historic Buddhist sites, underscoring the civilisational bond and encouraging Buddhist tourism.

The arts‑focused “Rasa‑75” series will merge Indian and Japanese music, dance and traditional crafts, featuring collaborations between established artists and emerging creators.

Sports engagement, branded “Sport‑75”, will aim to deepen ties ahead of India’s goal to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The celebrations will be kicked off with a friendly cricket match during the Nagoya Asian Games in 2026, and a “Cricket Kizuna‑75” coaching camp where Indian coaches will conduct a week‑long training program for Japanese players.
