Major Drone and Artillery Strikes by Yemeni Military on Houthi‑Held Areas
Sana, Aug 16 — The Yemeni defence ministry confirmed that its forces launched a sweeping series of 181 operations against Houthi‑controlled zones in the last 24‑hour period. The coordinated attacks combined drone raids, cannon fire and rocket salvoes to neutralise rebel weapon caches, motorised units and infrastructure used for launching attacks on government troops and civilian assets. According to spokesperson Maj. Gen. Majid al‑Nujaili, the actions caused dozens of Houthi casualties and eliminated equipment in seven provinces, though exact numbers remain unreported. The strikes were framed as a measured retaliation to a recent wave of Houthi missile and drone attacks targeting Yemeni ports, economic sites and neighboring Saudi territory.
