London's Youth Embrace Sanskrit at Akshar-Purushottam Pathshala Launch
A vibrant gathering of young scholars marked the opening of the Akshar‑Purushottam Sanskrit Pathshala at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Temple in London on 13 October. Mahant Swami Maharaj, fulfilling a pledge made during the recent Satsang Diksha ceremony, inaugurated the school that already counts around 350 students. The ceremony highlighted the deep-rooted tradition of Sanskrit study encouraged by Lord Swaminarayan, as explained by Mahamahopadhyaya Bhadreshdas Swami, who cited historic centres founded in 1961 (Mumbai) and 1973 (Sarangpur). The event also showcased a student‑led Sanskrit presentation, a puja of the Akshar‑Purushottam Maharaj idol, and the lighting of a ceremonial lamp. Researchers were cited for demonstrating Sanskrit’s relevance in modern computational linguistics and neuro‑imaging studies, underscoring the language’s enduring academic value.
