Royal Couple from Liechtenstein Welcomed in Vadodara

A royal delegation from Liechtenstein received a warm reception in Vadodara on Monday after landing in Gujarat. Prince Alois and Princess Sophia are on a state visit to India, and the Gujarat leg marks an important stage of the trip.

At the airport, Gujarat State Minister Praful Bhai Panseriya and several senior government officials welcomed the visiting couple. Their convoy then moved toward Manjusar, where the prince and princess were to visit a company.

The prince first arrived in Mumbai in response to an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Ministry of External Affairs had announced the visit. Maharashtra Protocol Minister Jaykumar Rawal received him in the city.

The ministry's official post on X described India's relationship with Liechtenstein as sweet and cordial, rooted in shared values. It also welcomed the prince to India.

The prince's visit includes a high-level official and business team with prominent industry leaders. Princess Sophia is also part of the delegation.

For Prince Alois, this is his second visit to India in 2026. He attended the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi in February. His earlier visits came in 2010 and 2018.

On Tuesday, the prince will receive a formal ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan and meet External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. He will also pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

That same day, Prime Minister Modi and the prince will hold discussions at Hyderabad House. Their talks are expected to address trade, investment, science, technology and innovation, and people-to-people engagement. They will also exchange views on regional and global developments.

On Thursday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary will meet the prince.

President Droupadi Murmu will also meet the prince and host an official banquet in his honour.
