Legal Hurdles Near End as UK High Court Dismisses Modi’s Appeal

The UK High Court’s King’s Bench Division has finally rejected the last appeal filed by Neerav Modi, clearing the final judicial hurdle for his extradition to India.

The court’s decision was pronounced after the Crown Prosecution Service, backed by a dedicated CBI task force, presented comprehensive evidence linking Modi to the Punjab National Bank fraud. The task force included senior investigation officers who had traveled to London to coordinate with British authorities.

Following the verdict, the Ministry of External Affairs reiterated its commitment to see the fugitive returned, stating that the Indian government will now work with UK officials to arrange his secure hand‑over. The ministry emphasized that the outcome reflects the collaborative effort between the two nations’ law‑enforcement agencies.

Modi, who fled India in 2018 after the scandal broke, faces charges of fraud and money‑laundering. The CBI’s cross‑border investigation was pivotal in securing his arrest and subsequent legal proceedings in the UK.
