Kuwait vows to protect national security amid escalating regional tensions

Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a firm statement condemning the series of attacks it attributes to Iran, describing them as an open violation of the country's sovereignty. The ministry asserted that the assaults jeopardised the safety of civilians and residents, constituting a grave breach of international law.

The statement warned that the continuation of these "shameless" attacks reflects a hostile attitude and represents a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability. Kuwait emphasized that such aggression undermines diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and establishing lasting peace.

Kuwait affirmed its right to take all necessary actions to defend its sovereignty, ensure national security, and protect its territory and critical infrastructure from any further threats. The ministry's remarks came after the United States resumed strikes against Iran, prompting Tehran to launch missile and drone attacks on U.S. bases across the Gulf.

According to Iran's news agency TASNIM, recent U.S. operations have resulted in the death of six Iranian navy personnel. Iran's health ministry also reported that since the U.S. bombing campaign restarted on August 30, 18 Iranian civilians have been killed and more than 140 injured, many of them women and children. The U.S. military acknowledged the reports but maintained that it does not target civilians.
