In light of escalating military activity in the Red Sea, South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed Korean‑registered vessels to adopt additional precautionary steps. Deputy Minister Kim Jina pointed out that the recent escalation between Yemen's Houthi insurgents and Saudi Arabian forces poses a direct threat to commercial shipping lanes. While the ministry continues to monitor the safety of Korean crews and cargo, it has ordered ship operators to maintain constant communication with naval patrols and to follow any route adjustments issued by regional authorities. The alert comes as part of a broader Level‑3 travel advisory that also discourages non‑essential stays in the wider Middle East.
