Kim Jong Un Hopes for Deepened Cooperation After Putin’s Congratulatory Note

On the occasion of the 81st anniversary of Korea’s freedom from Japanese occupation, Kim Jong Un replied to President Vladimir Putin’s congratulatory message with optimism about future collaboration. The North Korean leader described the Russia‑DPRK bond as rooted in common struggle and mutual respect, and said he is proud to cooperate with Putin in strengthening the partnership. Kim expects the existing cooperation framework, established during the June 2024 summit, to evolve into a more robust alliance covering military, technical and economic fields. He called for an enlarged scope of joint initiatives that would benefit both nations.
