July Casualties in Ukraine Reach New High: 437 Killed, 2,610 Hurt, Says President

Kyiv – In a press briefing, President Volodymyr Zelensky presented findings from a United Nations Human Rights Office report that listed 437 civilian deaths and 2,610 injuries resulting from Russian attacks in July. He noted that this represents the highest single‑month civilian casualty figure since the conflict escalated in May 2022. The report also documented 17 child fatalities and 166 child injuries, the worst month for child victims since the war began. Zelensky assigned direct responsibility to Russia, accusing Moscow of escalating missile, drone, and bomb assaults on Ukrainian urban areas. He pointed out that attacks using long‑range weapons made up 38 percent of the total civilian casualties in July, calling it a calculated approach against non‑combatants that requires formal documentation and investigation. The president urged the international community to translate concern into action, recommending stricter sanctions, enhanced air‑defence support for Ukraine, and strategic pressure on Russia to alter its war calculations.
