Joint River Patrols to Cover Entire Mekong Stretch from Aug 17‑21

During the designated period, the four countries will execute a continuous sweep of the Mekong River. Patrol vessels will meet at agreed points, merge crews, and split responsibilities to monitor high‑traffic routes, risky shallow sections, and riverbank docks. The coordinated effort also involves a systematic review of both water and shoreline territories, aiming to deter smuggling, illegal fishing and other cross‑border crimes.
