Joint People’s Action Committee Calls for International Oversight in Ravalkot

The Joint People’s Action Committee (JPAC) has intensified its appeal for global human‑rights organisations to intervene in the escalating crisis in Ravalkot, a town in Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir. In a video shared on a popular social platform, committee members gathered in a cramped room while a severely injured protester received urgent care. The victim recounted how security forces opened fire on demonstrators, leaving him wounded and promising to continue the struggle.

JPAC’s spokesperson announced that two civilians were shot during the latest clash, describing the deployment of live ammunition against unarmed residents as “deeply alarming.” The committee urged the United Nations and foreign media to keep a constant watch on the ground realities, stressing that the use of force against civilians must end immediately.

The statement was released hours after thousands of people assembled for separate rallies across the region. In the market area of Bukhara, a large crowd of women and children carried flags and shouted, “Inqalab aayega” (the revolution will come). The demonstrators demanded an end to power cuts, rising prices of essential items, and the reopening of closed hospitals.

Authorities have imposed strict curfews, cut electricity in multiple districts, and halted deliveries of food and medicines, worsening the humanitarian situation. Independent monitoring groups claim that the death toll may exceed one hundred, with many more injured in the ongoing confrontations.

JPAC’s call for international scrutiny reflects growing frustration among residents who feel that local governance has abandoned its duty to protect civilians. The committee has pledged to continue organizing peaceful protests until accountability and a transparent investigation are secured.
