Joint Indo‑Nepal forensic mission seeks to resolve victim identities in flood crisis

The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu announced that its forensic unit will remain on the ground to support Nepal’s disaster response. With over 4,600 people still unaccounted for, including 583 foreigners, officials have decided to preserve DNA samples from all recovered bodies to ensure future identification. The collaborative mission also coordinates with Chinese technical teams working in the Bhote‑Kosi and Trishuli river valleys, where rescue tunnels are being examined for additional clues.
