Jayashankar’s Gulf Tour Focuses on Strengthening Ties with Bahrain

Foreign Minister S. Jayashankar began a high‑profile diplomatic circuit on 5 July, visiting Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Belgium and the United States. The purpose of the tour is to deepen existing relationships and explore new areas of cooperation.

In Bahrain, the minister met Deputy Prime Minister Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa. Their conversation highlighted the importance of expanding trade links, enhancing defence collaboration, and promoting cultural exchanges.

Both officials reiterated that a robust India‑Bahrain partnership contributes to stability in the Gulf region, especially as nations adjust to the evolving post‑peace‑agreement landscape.

After concluding the Gulf leg, Jayashankar will head to New York to spearhead India’s bid for a seat on the UN Security Council for the 2028‑29 term, and later attend the third India‑EU Trade and Technology Council in Brussels.
