Jayashankar’s Doha Visit Paves Way for Deeper Bilateral Cooperation

During his visit to Doha on July 5, India’s Foreign Minister S. Jayashankar held talks with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al‑Thani. The two leaders evaluated the progress made since diplomatic ties were established in 1973 and discussed expanding collaboration in strategic sectors.

Jayashankar thanked the Qatari leadership for its role in safeguarding Indian nationals and highlighted ongoing projects in energy, trade, investment, connectivity and cultural exchange. He underscored the importance of a stronger strategic partnership to address shared challenges.

The meeting is part of a scheduled diplomatic tour covering Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman, intended to reinforce India’s engagement with the Gulf region, exchange views on the war in West Asia, and explore joint solutions to global economic and energy issues.

Both ministries reaffirmed their commitment to resolving disputes through peaceful means, enhancing regional stability, and activating joint working groups and bilateral committees to accelerate priority initiatives.
