The Japan Meteorological Agency has urged citizens to stay alert for the next seven days following the recent series of tremors. Officials highlighted that the most critical period could be the next two to three days, when earthquakes up to magnitude 7 on the Shindo scale are most likely.
Emergency responders have been reminded to rotate shifts and stay hydrated, especially as temperatures climb, to avoid heat‑related illnesses.
The agency’s warning comes after the 7.1 magnitude Kumamoto quake that caused widespread infrastructure damage, including collapsed bridges and damaged buildings.
