Japan's PM visit to India viewed as new Indo-Pacific partnership

Japan’s Prime Minister Sane Takahashi’s upcoming visit to India has been described by former MP Harshvardhan Srivastava as a landmark moment for Indo‑Pacific cooperation. He said the Japanese leader enjoys a strong electoral mandate that lends stability to the partnership.

Srivastava compared the political backing of both leaders to that of India’s Prime Minister, emphasizing a shared vision for a free and open Indo‑Pacific. He noted that the dialogue will go beyond bilateral issues, covering broader strategic domains such as defence, technology, and infrastructure.

The politician warned that the meeting could lay the foundation for a deeper, multilevel collaboration that strengthens regional security and fosters economic growth across the Pacific rim.
