New framework proposes Japan‑India deep‑tech capital corridor
Goyal unveiled a four‑pillar framework to institutionalize India‑Japan startup cooperation. The centerpiece is the proposed Japan‑India Deep‑Tech Capital Corridor, designed to channel long‑term capital into early‑stage research, deep‑tech innovation and commercialization.
Another pillar calls for a bilateral innovation bridge linking universities, incubators, R&D institutes, labs and testing facilities. A third element seeks to combine India’s production capacity and engineering talent with Japan’s sophisticated manufacturing know‑how. The final pillar recommends a regular startup pitching platform to keep dialogue alive among Indian entrepreneurs, Japanese corporations, venture funds and strategic investors.
The Indian government is also preparing a second fund‑of‑funds of about $1 billion, with a specific focus on deep‑tech companies, and has invited Japanese investors to participate actively.
