Jaishankar to Launch India’s UN Security Council Bid in New York

On July 13, Dr. S. Jaishankar will fly to New York to formally begin India’s official campaign for a seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2028‑29 term. The campaign launch will include a series of high‑level briefings, outreach to member states and a media conference at the UN headquarters. India seeks to present its vision of a reformed Security Council that reflects contemporary geopolitical realities and to highlight its commitment to multilateralism, peacekeeping and sustainable development.
