Israel Receives First Tamir Interceptor from US, Strengthening Joint Defense

The United States has delivered its first domestically produced Tamir interceptor to Israel, a critical element of the Iron Dome air‑defense system. The hand‑over was conducted at Raytheon‑Rafael’s East Camden, Arkansas facility, under the umbrella of the US‑Israel shared defense program.

Israel’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that the interceptor will be allocated to the Israeli Missile Defense Organization, enhancing the nation’s ability to intercept a variety of aerial threats. The Camden plant was specifically built to manufacture Tamir interceptors for Iron Dome, representing the first overseas production site for this component.

The joint venture between Raytheon and Rafael, known as RTS, seeks to expand the United States’ production capacity for advanced missile‑defense hardware. Officials from both countries highlighted the strategic significance of the partnership, noting its role in creating jobs in the United States and bolstering the American defense industrial base.

The delivery underscores the continued success of Iron Dome, which has intercepted thousands of projectiles in recent conflicts, saving lives and limiting damage.
