Irish Ambassador Highlights India as Key EU Strategic Partner
Kevin Kelly, Ireland’s envoy to New Delhi, told reporters that the EU now counts India among its most important strategic partners. He said the current EU Council agenda places the Indo‑Pacific region and the EU‑India relationship at the forefront.
The ambassador noted that India and the EU together represent nearly two‑billion people, both strong democracies with significant economic clout. Over the past three years in India, he observed a growing Indian interest in European developments, extending beyond trade to technology, security, geopolitics and the evolving world order.
Kelly reaffirmed Ireland’s commitment to work with its European partners to build a more competitive, safe, and united Europe while preserving shared democratic principles.
