The naval wing of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard warned that the Strait of Hormuz would remain shut to shipping until the United States halts what it calls “illegal foreign intervention” in the waterway. The statement, released after the series of drone and missile strikes, said the closure would stay in effect until Washington ceases its aggressive moves in the region. The IRGC emphasized that the Strait is vital for global oil transport and warned that any ship attempting to pass without Iranian consent would be denied passage.
