IRGC Justifies New Strikes as Retaliation for Ongoing US Aggression

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on Monday that it had carried out missile and drone attacks against U.S. positions in Jordan and Kuwait as a direct retaliation for continued American pressure on Tehran. The IRGC said ballistic missiles were launched at Aqaba’s airport in Jordan, where a U.S. Boeing C‑17 Globemaster III transport aircraft and a Boeing P‑8 Poseidon maritime patrol plane were allegedly hit and seriously damaged.

The organization also reported a drone strike that demolished an early‑warning radar installation in Kuwait and damaged a storage depot at the Ali Al‑Salem air base, which housed spare parts for aircraft and an MQ‑9 Reaper drone hangar. The attack reportedly set several unmanned aerial vehicles on fire.

According to the IRGC, these actions were a proportional response to what it labeled “aggressive U.S. actions” targeting Iranian interests across the region. The statement warned that as long as the United States persists with “malicious activities” in West Asia, the Strait of Hormuz will remain unsafe for the flow of oil, gas and fertilizer shipments.

U.S. Central Command, meanwhile, announced via its official channel that it had completed its ninth consecutive night‑time operation against Iranian targets. CENTCOM said its campaign sought to neutralize Iranian command centres, air‑defence sites, coastal‑surveillance stations, naval capabilities, missile and drone launch facilities and communication networks, with the aim of curbing Tehran’s capacity to threaten commercial traffic through the Hormuz waterway.
