Iranian President Defends June MoU as Symbol of National Victory

TEHRAN – President Ebrahim Raisi, in a briefing with Education Minister Alireza Kazemi, reiterated that Iran’s June 18 memorandum of understanding with the United States embodies both “respect” and “strength.” He emphasized that the document was prepared in line with the philosophical framework of the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Raisi asserted that the MoU was the product of intensive expert analysis and that it serves as a cornerstone for ending regional warfare. He warned that Iran would not submit to adversarial pressure while pursuing the agreement.

According to statements from Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqir Kalbaf, the peace MoU stands as proof of “Iran’s pride and triumph,” reinforcing the nation’s diplomatic achievements.

The agreement required both parties to conclude detailed negotiations within a 60‑day period, a timeframe that expired on the subsequent Monday. The recent surge in bilateral frictions has cast doubt on any further progress.

Meanwhile, U.S. Senator Rubén Galego, a former Marine and Iraq‑war veteran, slammed the Trump administration for embarking on the Iran conflict without a clear strategy, alleging that American soldiers paid the price for that oversight.
