Iranian militia claims missile strikes on Saudi crude and Qatari LNG tankers

Earlier on Tuesday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps navy announced that it had fired missiles at two tankers attempting to use the U.S.-backed Omani route through the Hormuz Strait. The vessels, a Saudi crude carrier and a Qatari LNG tanker named Al Rukayyat, allegedly ignored warnings and were struck. The attacks prompted other ships from Japan, India and Western nations to alter their routes and follow the path suggested by Iranian authorities. Qatar condemned the strike as a breach of international law and a threat to global energy security, holding Iran fully responsible.
