Iran Warns of Hormuz Closure and Oil Crisis if U.S. Interference Persists

Following a succession of missile and drone attacks on U.S. sites in the Gulf, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard issued a stark warning about the future of the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC said that the only path to keeping the waterway safe for international shipping is for Washington to halt its military interventions and respect the sovereignty of coastal nations.

Analysts note that any disruption to Hormuz – through direct conflict or heightened military posturing – could trigger a dramatic spike in global oil and gas prices, given that a significant share of the world’s petroleum passes through the strait each day.

The Iranian leadership also referenced earlier phases of its campaign, including a reported strike on a U.S. missile base in Kuwait that allegedly destroyed two HIMARS launchers and ignited fires in missile storage depots. Tehran insists that the escalation will only intensify if the United States continues its current course.
