UN and IAEA urged to act after 18th violation of nuclear non‑proliferation norms

Iran’s foreign mission emphasized that the Dar‑Khwan attack represents a serious breach of international law and the safeguards regime that governs peaceful nuclear projects. The Iranian government has maintained continuous contact with the IAEA, and on July 19 the country’s vice‑president and head of the Nuclear Energy Organization sent a letter to the IAEA Director General demanding effective and proportionate measures against the perpetrators.

The letter warned that allowing such violations to go unpunished will encourage further aggression, potentially destabilising regional security and jeopardising global economic growth. Tehran called on the UN to issue a firm condemnation and to adopt concrete steps to prevent future strikes on safeguarded nuclear sites.
