In a move highlighting regional diplomacy, Pakistan’s senior military leader Asim Munir arrived in Tehran to engage directly with Iran’s top political figures. His meetings with President Masoud Pezeshkian and Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf focused on maintaining the current ceasefire with the United States and preventing any return to open conflict. Pezeshkian used the occasion to underline Islamic solidarity, reminding Munir that Iran only seeks to exercise its legitimate rights under international law. He warned that American credibility has suffered because of repeated violations during past talks and urged all parties to proceed with extreme care. Munir reportedly delivered messages from Washington that contained both diplomatic overtures and implicit threats of renewed military action. He emphasized Pakistan’s desire for lasting peace and its readiness to act as a stabilizing force in the region. Iranian officials welcomed the constructive tone while reiterating their own commitment to protecting national interests. Alongside security talks, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held talks on agricultural cooperation, aiming to speed up trade agreements and simplify cross-border transport of food and livestock products. The visit concluded with a joint statement highlighting concrete steps toward a durable regional accord.
